Subject: Jewelry Policy & Zero Tolerance Policy - Must Read
This message is from the Acton-Boxborough Youth Soccer Executive
Committee - Please adhere to these policies. (See below)
Jewelry Policy
My daughter wants to get her ears pierced. She won't really have to
remove those little starter earrings, will she?
Unfortunately, yes. All jewelry must be removed prior to the start
of a game. All players will be checked for jewelry, watches, and
barrettes. In the event that a medical alert bracelet must be worn,
the coach may use athletic tape to secure the bracelet securely
against the player's wrist. Bandages over starter earrings are not
an acceptable alternative to removing the earrings, as the earrings
may still be accidentally ripped out by another player. We apologize
for the inconvenience, but please know that this policy is in place
to protect the safety of all players on the field.
From an online soccer-safety site:
Earrings in particular are prone to being torn from earlobes when
contact is made with a soccer ball. By removing these pieces of
jewelry and other items of this nature, you can help prevent
injuries to yourself that could be disfiguring. If you are
considering getting piercings and you play soccer, you may want to
consider planning to have your piercings done when the soccer season
is over.
Zero Tolerance Policy
BAYS Zero Tolerance Policy
All individuals responsible for a team and all spectators shall
support the referee. Failure to do so will undermine the referee's
authority and has the potential of creating a hostile environment
for the players, the referee, and all the other participants and
spectators.
Consequently, BAYS and ABYS has adopted and modified the following
rules:
- No one, except the players, is to speak to the
referee during or after the game. Exceptions: Coaches may ask
questions before the game, call for substitutions and point out
emergencies during the game, or respond to the referee if addressed.
- Absolutely no disputing calls, during or after
the game, no remarks to the referee to watch certain players or
attend to rough play. NO YELLING at the referee, EVER, and no
criticism, sarcasm, harassment, intimidation, or feedback of any
kind during or after the game.
- Violators may be ejected and are subject to
disciplinary action by the ABYS Sportsmanship Review Committee.
- If coaches or spectators have questions regarding
particular calls, rules, or a referee, or wish to give feedback
regarding a referee, please go to the
Referee
Feedback Form or contact the ABYS President or Executive
Director, their contact information can be obtained
