Spider Monkeys Disney 3v3 National Champions
Martin Luther King weekend was a very exciting one for the U12 Spider Monkeys. Represented by UFA’s Erin C., Taylor D., Teresa W., Taylor O., Madison H. and NASA’s Riley R. and coached by Mike O, the girls attended the Disney 3v3 Soccer Championship in Orlando, the ultimate culmination of 3v3 tournaments around the country.
The girls played in the U12 Invitational Division along with 13 other teams. Playing 3 games on the first day of the event, they beat Super Six (AR) 10-0, Rochester Triple Threat (NY) 7-1 and tied Advantage (IL) 4-4. This allowed them to finish 1
st
in their bracket and play in the Gold Division along with 6 other teams.
On the second day of the event, they beat Florida Squirrels (FL) 7-1, lost to both Pitt Crew (PAW) 2-1 and Tophat's H2O 5-1 leaving them in 4th place in their bracket which meant they would have to beat every team the next day.
On the last day, the girls faced Rochester Triple Threat (NY) again and were down two goals within the first couple of minutes of the game. They managed to score one goal, but Rochester was determined and scored again. With only a few minutes left the girls gave it all they had, scored 3 goals winning 4-3 earning a spot in the semifinals against Tophat's H20.
With fierce determination, the Spider Monkeys beat H2O in the semis 6-4 and made their way into the finals against Pitt Crew (PAW). It was a tough game but the Spider Monkeys won 4-2 and became the National Division Champions.
Well-deserved win! Congratulations to the U12 Spider Monkeys!
